The Carr Mara Golf Competition is a unique and meaningful tournament that blends the spirit of competition with the celebration of two legendary figures in the golf world: Joe Carr and Wellington Mara.
The Carr Mara Golf Tournament honours the memory of two icons by bringing golfers from Ireland and the USA together in competitive play, celebrating international friendship, camaraderie, and integrity, while raising meaningful funds for charities chosen by the host club.
Both men had made lasting contributions to their communities and to the world of sports. JB Carr had expressed interest in having a competitive amateur event named after him, and Wellington Mara was a revered member of Winged Foot Golf Club.
Friends of both Joe Carr and Wellington Mara established the Carr Mara to honour Wellington Mara, a prominent figure in the world of American football and golf, and JB Carr, a legendary Irish amateur golfer.
The Carr Mara Golf Competition has evolved into a memorable annual tradition that strengthens bonds across the golfing community while honouring the legacies of two men who contributed significantly to their communities and the sport of golf.
